ABOUT ME
HOW IT ALL STARTED
I’ve always had a passion for health and wellness. Growing up in the small port town of Prince Rupert, you either played sports or got into trouble (or sometimes a bit of both). My parents pushed me to play competitive basketball, soccer and golf throughout my early years and highschool, but it wasn’t until 2011 in my first year of university where I started to dabble with weight training. In my early years of weight training, I experienced my first injury– injuring my back and my right knee from stubbornly going too heavy with bad form on squats and deadlifts. I went to physio and chiro with moderate success. At the time I had no clue what were good practices versus bad. All I knew was that I couldn’t wait to get back to my training, and I was willing to do whatever it took to return to lifting as soon as possible. Those circumstances started the initial spark of my passion in rehab and strength & conditioning.
CERTIFIED ATHLETIC THERAPIST
In 2014 I began my degree of Athletic & Exercise Therapy at Camosun College. I also started working with an amazing physio who taught me the importance of movement quality and form correction instead of solely relying on passive treatment. Her methodology resonated with me, and her style of maintaining the fun of training while also healing my injury really landed with me. It’s a style that I’ve adopted and carried forward into my practice to this day.
FOCUS ON ATHLETE CARE
In 2016 I competed in my first powerlifting competition. I ended up winning my weight class along with the best novice lifter award. All of that culminated with me winning the BCPA Provincial Powerlifting Championship in the 83kg division just 2 years later. A couple months after winning, I passed my athletic therapy board exams and started my own business in beautiful Victoria, BC. Although I don’t compete anymore, I know the importance of having a clinician in your corner that’s willing to work with you, not against you. It’s my mission to provide my clients with the highest standard of training and rehab, focusing on collaboration, movement quality, and the relentless pursuit of progress.
